This will be old news to some of you, but I thought I should post something about it to convince all you Valve haters out there Wink
Over the past few months Valve has started to take legal action against groups and websites that distribute cheats for Half-Life and its mods. In the main this legal action is based around going against the EULA they agreed to when installing various software, which made it illegal for them to reverse engineer the code amongst other things.
Almost all the major cheat sites (to my knowledge) have since gone offline, either voluntarily, or have been taken offline by their service provider.
But what does this mean for us?
It means cheats will be a lot less easy to come by, and cheat developers will be a lot more reluctant to release new cheats to the public. VAC (Valve Anti Cheat) will finally be able to catch up with the majority of cheats, as there won't be anywhere for them to get updates to stay ahead of VAC.
With the next VAC update scheduled soon, almost all mainstream cheats will be rendered useless. Pretty much the only people who will still be cheating are the cheat developers themselves, and the few people associated with them.
Looks like after over 5 years of cheats in Half-Life, Valve are finally doing something concrete against them. GG.
